Do I need curtains or a blind?
There are many different options that will define your style and home. A classical homely feel will be created by curtains, while a roller -, twisted- or duette blind will contribute to a more contemporary look. Further decisions will be based on your need of privacy and light.
A good option to allow maximum light into a room is a sheer or a voile curtain. These curtains can either be a front curtain or a back curtain.
Unlined sheer curtains
If you use a sheer curtain as a front curtain, you will need two rails with two curtains. The back curtain will serve as either a block out or a sunblock curtain made form lining fabric for privacy during the evening. The voile or sheer curtain in the front provide privacy during the day and would let light into your room.
If you decide to use a sheer or voile curtain at the back, there is a wide variety of finishing options for custom made curtains to use at the front.
These options include:
- Lined or unlined pinchpleats curtains,
- Lined or unlined globets curtains,
- Lined or unlined pencil pleat curtains,
- Lined or unlined eyelet curtains,
- Lined or unlined wavepleat curtains
- When you do not have the budget to custom make your curtains, readymade curtains are also available.
We at Rosalinda will ensure that you will get the correct hardware for your choice of curtain to complete the perfect look for your window.
Did you know that curtains are good for insulation? In Europe, curtains include interlining to keep the cold out and the heat in, while in South Africa we try to keep the heat and the sun out using sunblock.
If you live in a busy road, curtains made with acoustic lining will reduce the noise levels from outside.
